The tradition of celebrating Teachers' Day originated with the initiative of Dr. Radhakrishnan, the second President of India, in 1962. When his students approached him to celebrate September 5 as a special day, Dr. Radhakrishnan suggested instead that the day be dedicated to recognizing and honoring the contributions of teachers to society.
In observance of Teachers' Day at Rural Engineering College, Hulkoti, students from all branches actively participated in expressing gratitude to their teachers. The celebrations took place throughout the day across all departments.
The Alumni Association, Hale Vidyarthigal Sangha (Alumni REC) Hulkoti, organized a special event at the Seminar Hall to honor teachers. The program commenced at 3:30 PM with a prayer song by Prof. Soumya Hiremath from the Civil Department, and Prof. Jagadeesh from the same department hosted the event.
Dr. V.M. Patil, the Principal, delivered a motivational address, urging faculty members to continually improve not only their technical knowledge but also to support students in their holistic development. Dr. S. T. Vasan, H.O.D. of Engineering Science and Humanity, and Shri. Krishna Odugoudar, Principal RPT, also shared their insights and conveyed wishes for the teachers. Shri. Ranganagouda P. Patil, Member of Management, graced the celebration with his presence.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. ShriKrishna Gurlhosur, followed by a high tea session.
