The Rural Engineering College in Hulkoti, in collaboration with the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) , Dharwad, hosted a one-day workshop on “Irrigation Management and Conservation of Water Bodies” on 19-02-2024 at the seminar hall. Dr. V M Patil, the Principal, presided over the event. Shri. Sachin D Patil, the Secretary, RTE Society, Hulkoti, graced the stage. Prof.B Y Bhandiwaddar, the Director of WALMI, was the chief guest. Er.Bheema Naik G, a Professor , WALMI, was the guest of honor. Er. Suvarna Doddamani and Er. Mahadevagouda Huttanagoudar, both professors at WALMI, also shared the stage. Mr. Jagadeesh M, skillfully hosted the event and the Head of the Department Mr.Satish Jnanopantar and entire civil engineering staff coordinated it efficiently.

All the dignitaries present on the stage discussed the significance of water and soil conservation, emphasizing the importance of minimizing water wastage.

Prof B Y Bhandiwaddar, the Director of WALMI, delivered a speech regarding the water resources situation in the country and the water crisis specifically in Karnataka, focusing on the associated duties and responsibilities. Er.Basavaraj H Pujar, an Associate Professor, presented on the importance of conserving water bodies. Additionally, Er. Mahadevgouda Huttangoudar, an Assistant Engineer, provided a comprehensive presentation on various techniques for rainwater harvesting.
