The Library has well-furnished and well ventilated building with an excellent collection of books, journals and non-book materials in Engineering Technology and the Library has over 41,800 No of volumes and 8,650 No of Titles, Which are updated regularly by way of adding new literature in the form of Textbooks, Reference books, Reports, Proceedings, Encyclopedias, Standards (National & International) Print Journals, Audio Visual Resources, CDs, Educational videos and Thesis/Dissertations/Project Reports. The library subscribes to nearly more than 09 databases under which thousands subscribed e-journals and e-books are available under VTU Consortium. Mainly database are IEEE, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, Emerald, New Age International, Tata Mc Grow Hill, Springer, Drillbit, Knimbus Mint book, Pocket books and Pro Quest with full text articles e-books & e-journals from the major Publishers. In addition there are 705 Bound volumes of Journals, 500 CDs & DVDs.
The Library has total area 600 sqm and 100 students seating capacity, the entire collection has bar-coded and fully automated by using the Koha Integrated Library Management Software. The Library offer many services to our patrons like Automated Circulation System, Books Lending and Periodicals, Online Public Access Catalogue, Database Orientation, Patron Management, Government Book Bank Facility, Inter library loan and Special Encouragement for top 3 Students in all branches, News Paper Clipping and Selective Dissemination of Information etc. Online catalogue of the library and the e-resources can be accessed on the campus network.3

The Remote Access Gateway has been specially designed by the library for the academic community of VTU Consortium, Belagavi to provide off-campus and anytime-anywhere access to the library’s digital resources for seamless teaching, learning and research. FUNCTIONS / SERVICE OF LIBRARY
- Circulation / Book Lending: This service is concerned with lending of books and other library material to the registered members of the library for a specific period of time.
- Periodical Service: A good number of journals and magazines both technical and general in nature are subscribed to library. Latest issues will be displayed as and when received.
- Reference Service: The Library maintains a reference collection consisting of encyclopaedias, dictionaries, directories, handbooks, atlases, periodical back volumes, old question papers etc. Readers may approach the Reference Desk for information or any assistance in the use of the Library Collections and Services.
- Inter-Library-Loan: The Library offers inter-library loan service to its users for the books not available in the Rural Engineering college library from other Engineering and Technical college, Developing Library Network (DELNET) and VTU Consortia.
- OPAC: Online catalogue facility is available to users through LAN. The link for accessing our OPAC is http://172.16.17.95/. & The Every individual patron has the OPAC account credentials to access their account. The main features of the OPAC are to check the availability of books, self renewal of borrowed books and online purchase suggestions. Find loan periods, renew, or place holds. Check your library account for what is checked out and when books are due. Circulation Services oversees and enforces loan policies for items held by the Library.
- CD-Rom services: Our CDs accompanied with purchased books and journals, some complementary CDs, and Magazines’ CDs and DVDs. CDs will be provided to refer through library systems as well as issued home.
- Book Bank (Govt. BB): The eligible students may submit online application to get extra 2 books for entire semester in the Govt. Book Bank Section.
- Old Question Papers: The Library provide old questions papers service to students and staff members for their preparation of exams and further reference. The library maintains question papers in form of Print and Online storage.
- User Awareness Programme: The library takes an active part in the orientation programme organized by the institute for the benefit of new students in the beginning of academic year. Any user desiring to know more about library resources and service or to learn how to use a particular resource like OPAC, e-journals, databases etc. should contact in circulation counter.
- News Paper Clippings: Scanned copy of Rural Engineering College News and Events, AICTE News, COMEDK, and KEA News will send through email and also uploaded in website and Face book page.
- Photocopy Service: Reprography plays a very important role in the transmission of knowledge within library resources and services. The Reprography Service at Rural Engineering College Library helps to preserve rare and special material and collections from being stolen or mishandled and, therefore, maintain availability of the resources.

LIBRARY COMMITTEE
The Committee supervises the overall functioning of the library and looks into details such as policy matters and subject-wise fund allocation. The Library Committee meets twice in a year officially and informal meetings of the members are held as and when required. The Committee also meets the Principal to seek her approval and guidance as far as important issues are concerned.

- Books are issued on Identity Card
- If book is not returned on due date, an overdue fine of Rs. 1.00 per book per day is levied to its users
- The Library card is NOT TRANSFERABLE. Sub-lending of books is a misuse of this privilege and is to be avoided.
- Special care should always be taken that the Library card is not misplaced or lost. The loss if any is to be reported immediately to the Librarian.
- Duplicate Library card will be issued at the discretion of the Librarian and on payment of Rs. 100/- only.
- Hand-books, Reference books, Textbooks, Periodicals, Encyclopaedia, standards and other damaged books are not issued on loan. However, these books are to be consulted within the Library premises only.
- No one is supposed to write /damage on Library books and Journals. The person shall be held responsible for any damage caused to the books, Journals or any other property of the Library is strictly punishable.
- If one volume of a set is damaged or lost, the borrower will be liable to place the whole set or pay the cost of the whole set.
- Do not ear mark the paper of pages of a book.
Loss of Book
- In case of loss of a book the borrower must replace the lost book with the latest edition, along with the overdue charges.
- However, in case of not being able to replace the book, they are required to pay Two times of the latest price of the book and the processing charges of Rs 100/-.
